The body of a three year-old girl, who went missing at the height of Tropical Depression Maring's onslaught, was found in Laguna de Bay in Calamba, Laguna on Wednesday morning.

A report by GMA News stringer Robert Maico on "Balita Pilipinas" said rescuers found the child's body floating face down in the water along Barangay Palingon at 6 a.m.

The mother identified the girl as Franzin Jade Monge.

Monge was only one of the five residents reported missing from Purok 1, Barangay Parian in the onslaught of Tropical Storm Maring in Luzon.

Rescuers were still on the search for Eureka, and Eufracio Monge, aged 5 and 1; John Edward  and Aries Mendoza Junior, aged 4 and 2; and 20-year-old Eden Lacdao.

The report said floods at Barangay Parian were worsened after a nearby river overflowed.

Seeing as Monge was washed several villages away from her home in Barangay Parian, the rescue team admitted difficulty in locating the remaining victims.

The current had been so strong that it washed away the Monge family's two-storey home.

Meanwhile, the corpse of 14-year-old Lawrence Morillo was also found Wednesday morning after he was reported missing the night before.

Rescuers recovered the Barangay Matagoong resident's body from the San Cristobal river at around 6:30 a.m.

NDRRMC spokesperson Mina Marasigan had previously announced five other people confirmed dead in the onset of the storm. — Margaret Claire Layug/MDM, GMA News
