In a speech during the Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas, President Rodrigo Duterte shared that the people should not be worried about paying taxes. KAMI learned that President Duterte reiterated that he will not allow corruption during his administration.

KAMI brings this news to the readers to spread knowledge about the approval of the government for the second round of fuel excise tax hikes for 2019.

“Do not be so sad about being taxed because your money here during my term is safe. I will not allow corruption. I have fired so many Cabinet members for just an infraction," said the President as reported by CNN Philippines.

In a report by Inquirer, as per Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act, there will be an additional P2.24 per liter for diesel and gasoline starting January 1, 2019. The P2 will be the excise tax, while the 24 centavos will be for the value-added tax (VAT).

However, the netizens are divided in the pledge made by President Duterte. Here are some of their comments on the Facebook page of CNN Philippines:

As previously reported by KAMI, some senators and President Duterte are also open to legalize the use of medical cannabis in the Philippines after the remark he left about using it to remain awake amid erratic schedule.
