Ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno still seems undecided whether she would foray into politics, even if she has already been included by the Liberal Party in its possible senatorial slate for the 2019 elections.

“I’m still in the period of getting broader and deeper picture of where our country is going forward and what my role in that future is,” Sereno told reporters after her visit to Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who remains holed up at the Senate after President Rodrigo Duterte moved to nullify his amnesty.

Sereno did not elaborate.

Sereno was among the 18 personalities included in the Liberal Party (LP)-led opposition senatorial slate.

Asked about her visit to the senator, Sereno said it went well but she refused to divulge details of their meeting over lunch.

“It went well. I had  promised Senator Trillanes this conversation a long time ago so I came here to fulfill my promise. The conversation between the two of us, I hope we keep it confidential. It is better that way,” she said.

Trillanes is part of the opposition selection team for the senatorial line up. He earlier said that he was able to talk with Sereno but latter said then that she needs time to reflect and consult with the people.

Aside from Trillanes, Sereno also visited Senators Risa Hontiveros and Francis Pangilinan. — MDM, GMA News
