With Adamson and Ateneo already included in the Final Four of UAAP Season 81 men's basketball, the competition for the last two slots is expected to be competitive.

But for UST head coach Aldin Ayo, whose Growling Tigers were defeated by the Falcons on Wednesday, they will still take things one game at a time.

Asked about his thoughts on the Final Four, Ayo said, "To tell you honestly, napag-uusapan 'yan. I'll be consistent with that. Hindi kami concerned masyado sa spots, hanggang pang-ilan kami, kung papasok kami o hindi."

UST now holds a 5-7 win-loss record at fifth place.

For Ayo, this is just the beginning of a long journey for the España-based squad, and a Final Four slot is just a bonus — should they get it.

"This is a long program, pero we're trying to squeeze everything kasi lahat ng maa-achieve namin dito, babaunin namin sa next seasons namin. If mangyari, bonus na lang 'yun. If not, then we'll just be grateful sa kung anong mga natutunan namin dito. For sure, we're going to compete. We're going to do our best."

Is he feeling any pressure right now?

"Of course, there's always the pressure to win every game. There's pressure kung makakapasok sa Final Four o hindi, pero we're just focusing on each game eh, sa laro na nasa harapan namin. Di na kami masyado nag-iisip sa mga darating. One game at a time, we make sure na binibigay namin lahat," Ayo added.

On rookie CJ Cansino

Late in the game, rookie of the year candidate CJ Cansino had a bad landing and was ushered out of the court, but, he made a comeback with two minutes left in the game.

Despite the accident, Cansino stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.

"Di naman matatawaran fighting spirit ng batang yun. Hanggang kaya nun, talagang maglalaro 'yun," Ayo said.

For Ayo, Cansino's bad landing is just a minor pain the rookie would overcome. "Kanina nung pinapa-trap ko, sabi sakin, "Coach di ko kaya mag-trap kasi masakit e." Sabi ko, "Sakit lang 'yan eh. Nagkonsulta naman ako sa PT namin, di naman delikado, di naman career-threatening. Sabi ko just overcome it, kailangan natin maglaro." — LA, GMA News
