Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has arrived in Rome and is expected to complete a £5m move to Lazio on Monday.

Lucas is Liverpool's longest serving current player and was signed by the club by former manager Rafa Benitez in a £5m deal from Gremio more than a decade ago.

He made 31 appearances in all competitions last season but was largely deployed as a makeshift centre-back by manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 30-year-old played no part in Liverpool's pre-season friendly with Wigan on Friday after the club agreed a £5m fee with Lazio.

And while Liverpool flew out to Hong Kong on Sunday to take part in the Premier League Asia Trophy, Lucas was making his way to the Italian capital where he was snapped at the airport giving a thumbs up with a Lazio scarf draped over his shoulders.

According to Sky in Italy, Lucas will undergo a medical on Monday before finalising his move to Lazio, who finished fifth in Serie A last season.

Lucas has racked up 247 appearances in 10 seasons at Liverpool, scoring once and contributing 14 assists.
