Cloudy skies with light rain are expected in Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands as the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan continues to affect the country, PAGASA said on Thursday afternoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated drizzles.

Due to Amihan's surge, a gale warning is raised over the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacraft are urged not to venture out as the waters may get rough.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau said that the low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was located 1,795 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 3 p.m. on Thursday.

"Ito nga ay inaasahan nating papasok as LPA dito sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility ngayong weekend," said DOST-PAGASA weather forecaster Raymond Ordinario. — Dona Magsino/BM, GMA News
