Luis seen to leave PAR on Saturday; Habagat to bring rains over north Luzon

Tropical Depression Luis slightly weakened as it moved away on a northeast track on Friday afternoon, according to PAGASA.

In a 4 p.m. advisory, the weather bureau said Luis was 505 kilometers north northwest of Basco, Batanes at 3 p.m.

It was moving northeast at 10 kph, packing maximum sustained winds moving 45 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 65 kph.

According to a weather update on GMA News' "Quick Response Team", Luis could exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday afternoon.

However, Metra Weather's wind map indicated that a the low pressure area (LPA) spotted within PAR could develop into a tropical depression.

The LPA was last observed at 1,055 kilometers East of Basco, Batanes at 3 p.m.

The 4 p.m. forecast also said the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will continue to affect the western section of Northern and Central Luzon.

Particularly, Habagat is expected to bring monsoon rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, were forecast to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms. —NB, GMA News
