The southwest monsoon will be affecting the western section of Luzon on Thursday, PAGASA reported on its early morning forecast.

At 3 a.m. on Thursday, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 305 kilometers northwest of extreme northern Luzon.

The state weather bureau also noted the presence of two typhoons outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Typhoon Cimaron was located 1,660 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph and moving northwest with a speed of 35 kph.

Typhoon Soulik, on the other hand, is estimated 1,415 kilometers north northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of 160kph moving north northwest direction at 20 kph.

With the southwest monsoon, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Coastal weather conditions in the northern and western section of northern Luzon will be rough to very rough, the rest of Luzon will be moderate to rough while the Visayas and Mindanao will be slight to moderate. — BAP, GMA News
