Provinces in southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao have been experiencing monsoon rains, state weather agency PAGASA said on Monday.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said monsoon rains will continue to prevail in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas and Mindanao, with these areas possibly experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that flash floods and landslides may occur in these areas due to the rains.

The rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will encounter localized thunderstorms which may also bring floods and landslides due to severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA also said that as of 3 p.m., the typhoon internationally named Jebi (formerly Typhoon Maymay) was located at 1,330 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, packing maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 195 kilometers per hour.

Jebi continues to track the north-northwest direction at 20 kilometers per hour. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
