Rainy weather can be expected over the weekend as PAGASA is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday.

The LPA was 1,400 kilometers East of Mindanao, an evening weather report said on "24 Oras."

GMA News' resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz said rainfall can be expected in Mindanao until Sunday.

Rainy weather can also be expected over the weekend in parts of Luzon and the Visayas, particularly in Samar, Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Aurora, Quezon, Laguna, Rizal, Mindoro and the Bicol region.

PAGASA also advised fishermen and those with small vessels that sea travel remains risky off the coasts of the following areas:

  • Camarines provinces
  • Catanduanes
  • Northern Samar
  • Eastern Samar
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Sorsogon
  • Surigao del Norte
  • Surigao del Sur
  • Davao Oriental

Earlier in its 24-hour weather advisory, PAGASA had warned affected residents in Mindanao to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains caused by the LPA's trough. —Margaret Claire Layug/ LDF, GMA News
