Weather service PAGASA reported in a Saturday morning forecast that the typhoon internationally named Soulik, though outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, would enhance the southwest monsoon.

At 3 a.m., Soulik was 1,870 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, and was moving west-northwest at 10 kph.

Soulik had 125 kph sustained winds, which could gust up to 155 kph.

With Soulik enhancing the southwest monsoon, cloudy conditions accompanied with scattered rain and thunderstorms could be expected over Metro Manila; the Ilocos, Cordillera Administrative, Cagayan Valley, and Western Visayas Regions; Zambales; Bataan; Cavite; Batangas; Mindoro; and Palawan.

The rest of  the country would meanwhile be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers.

Winds would be moderate to strong from the southwest over the northern and western sections of Luzon, where coastal waters would be moderate to rough.

Over the the rest of the country, winds would be light to moderate from the southwest to west with slight to moderate conditions over surrounding waters.

PAGASA also reported that the tropical storm internationally named Rumbia was 1,395 kms north-northwest of extreme northern Luzon, and outside the PAR, at  3 a.m.

Rumbia had 80 kph sustained winds and 130 kph gusts, and was moving west at 15 kph. — DVM, GMA News
