Tropical Depression Neneng intensified slightly even as it exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Tuesday morning, weather service PAGASA reported in a Tuesday 5 a.m. bulletin.

At 4 a.m., Neneng was 295 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes, with 60 kilometer per hour sustained winds which could gust up to 75 kph.

Neneng was moving west-southwest at 20 kph, and would be 550 kms west of Basco, Batanes by Wednesday morning.

However, despite Neneng's exit, the tropical depression's trough would continue to bring scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rain over the Ilocos Provinces, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Cagayan Valley Region.

The rest of the country could meanwhile expect partly cloudy to cloudy conditions accompanied with isolated rainshowers.

Winds would be moderate to strong from the southwest to south over northern Luzon, where coastal waters would be moderate to rough.

Over the western sections of Central and southern Luzon, winds would be moderate to strong from the southwest to west with slight to moderate conditions over the surrounding seas.

Winds over the rest of the country would be light to moderate from the southwest to west.

PAGASA also reported that the typhoon internationally named Mangkhut had accelerated slightly was 1,820 kms east of southern Luzon at 4 a.m., still outside the PAR, and was moving westwards 30 kph.

Mangkhut still had 160 kph sustained winds and gusts of up to 195 kph. — DVM, GMA News
