Rainy weather is expected over Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao due to the effects of a low pressure area (LPA), PAGASA said on Friday afternoon.

According to its 4 p.m. weather forecast, PAGASA expects the LPA's trough to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Visayas, Bicol Region and the provinces of Surigao Del Norte and Dinagat Island.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the county could experience isolated rain showers due to Localized thunderstorms.

In an update on GMA News "Quick Response Team just before 6 p.m., the LPA was last spotted 630 kilometers East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. It had a low chance of turning into a tropical depression.

Outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, Typhoon Jebi continued to move westward at 20 kph.

It was last located at 2,775 kilometers East of Northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds moving 160 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 195 kph.

Although Jebi could enter PAR over the weekend, PAGASA said it had slim chances of making landfall. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
