A typhoon moving West off Northern Luzon was being monitored by PAGASA as the weather system could enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Typhoon Jebi was 3,245 kilometers East of Northern Luzon and moving westward at 20 kph, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 125 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 155 kph.

GMA News' resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz said there was a possibility that the typhoon could enter PAR.

However, Mang Tani said it had a slim chance of making landfall.

PAGASA's last forecast issued 4 p.m. said the monsoon is expected to bring rainshowers and thunderstorms to parts of extreme northern Luzon, particulary Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Some areas in Metro Manila and the rest of the country could also experience isolated rainshowers brought by localized thunderstorms. — Margaret Claire Layug/BAP, GMA News
