Typhoon Jebi weakens upon approaching PAR

Typhoon Jebi slowed down a bit on Sunday as it approached the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA said.

At 10 a.m., Jebi was spotted at 1,420 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, still outside PAR.

The typhoon had maximum sustained winds of 190 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 235 kph.

Jebi was moving north northwest at 25 kph.

The typhoon is expected to enter PAR on Sunday afternoon or evening, but will exit PAR early Monday morning.

PAGASA said Jebi  will not have a direct effect on the country and will not enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

By Monday morning, Jebi is expected to be 1,335 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, outside PAR. —KG, GMA News
