The new Triton is the latest generation of the model which is celebrating its 40th birthday this year.

The Triton will also be on display at My Town Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur from Dec 7-9; IOI Puchong Mall (Dec 17-23); Aman Central Mall, Alor Setar (Jan 10-13), Karamunsing Mall, Kota Kinabalu and Imperial Permaisuri Mall, Miri (Jan 11-13); The Spring Shopping Mall, Kuching (Jan 18-20) and IOI City Mall, Putrajaya (Jan 23-27).

The vehicle is produced at the Laem Chabang factory operated by Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co. Ltd. (MMTh), MMC’s producer and distributor in Thailand.

Designed for private and commercial users, the new Triton incorporates the latest iteration of the Dynamic Shield front concept, an enhanced 4WD system that delivers improved off-road performance, and the latest in active safety and driver assistance systems.

Overall, the new model features significant refinements to the durability and reliability required by the commercial user and to the comfort and ride sought by the private user.

The high engine hood line and beefier-looking lamps located higher up give the new model a more powerful and imposing front.

Inside, the Triton gets a high-quality look created by soft pad materials and stitching on the floor console, armrests and parking brake handle.

Transmission is a six-speed automatic unit compared with a five-speeder previously for smoother acceleration and more refinement.

Braking performance and feel are improved with the use of larger front discs and caliper pistons, and ride has also been improved with larger rear dampers.

ction and handling characteristics on all surfaces, or the Easy-Select 4WD, which simplifies switching between drive modes for different road surfaces. With the addition of new drive modes, both 4WD systems deliver improved off-road performance.

Both 4X4 systems use a new Off-road Mode which has Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand and Rock (in 4LLc only) settings. When engaged, the Off-road Mode integrally controls engine power, transmission and braking to regulate the amount of wheel slip to maximize all-terrain performance.

Other features include Hill Descent Control, Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), which can detect vehicles and pedestrians ahead, Blind Spot Warning which helps avoid sideswiping another vehicle when changing lanes,

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) which warns of incoming vehicle during reverse and Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) which prevents the driver from over-accelerating while in confined spaces.

Other useful features are the Multi Around Monitor, which generates a bird’s eye view image of the area around the vehicle, and parking sensors.

At the global premiere, Mitsubishi Motors CEO Osamu Masuko said the new Triton is one of the company’s most important global strategic models.

“Its success will accelerate the momentum of the company’s sustainable growth. The new model brings enhancements to the durability, reliability and comfort developed over the 40 years since the introduction of the series.

“I am fully confident the new Triton will meet the diverse needs and wishes of our customers around the world.”
