A guide to getting rid of, and preventing blackheads on your cheeks

You know those days when you have skin so perfect? Glowing in just the right places, smooth all over, and so clear that you really don’t need makeup? Just when we think we’ve finally reached peak skin, we look in the mirror and get greeted by a girl’s worst enemy (or one of) – blackheads.

Blackheads usually appear on the nose, but once in a while, they tend to do their own thing and may appear on the cheek. While not as common as those on the nose, cheek blackheads happen to be a common problem area as it gathers a lot of dirt over time due to clogged pores. It’s a common misconception amongst us that blackheads are deep set in your skin, and therefore a tedious process and a half to get rid of. Don’t get us wrong, it is. But with lots of skin discipline and determination, we can get our glowing skin back – eliminating one cheek blackhead at a time.

According to Kenneth Howe, MD, pimples of all kinds are usually caused by the plugging up of hair follicles on our skin. Blackheads are, in fact, the exact same thing as pimples, other than being so close to the skin surface that the tip of the plug is exposed to air.
