It will use its new Airbus A350-900ULR for the trips.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch direct flights between Singapore and Los Angeles with its new ultra-long-range Airbus A350-900ULR in November, an announcement revealed.

Flight SQ38 from Singapore to Los Angeles will start from 2 November and will initially be served three times per week. It will depart Singapore on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

"Our US services have always been popular with our customers and we are pleased to be able to provide even more travel options with the launch of non-stop flights between Singapore and Los Angeles," SIA CEO Goh Choon Phong said.

Starting 9 November, the operations will be daily operations through an additional A350-900ULR aircraft From 7 December, three more weekly services will be added.

SIA will be the first to operate the A350-900ULR that has two-class layout including the 67 Business Class seats and 94 Premium Economy Class seats.

The direct flights from Singapore and Los Angeles will put to end SIA's existing one-stop service to Los Angeles via Seoul after 30 November. The firm said that Singapore-Seoul frequency will be maintained at four flights per day.

In addition, its Singapore-San Francisco routes will increase to 10 times per week. The move will link Singapore and the US with 27 non-stop SIA flights by late 2018, together with direct Singapore-New York trips.

The three additional San Francisco services will operate as SQ34 and will depart every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday to the US.
