An angry woman was told she would be thrown off a plane after refusing to sit next to a mum and her young baby.

The irate passenger threatened to have the Delta flight attendant fired if she was made to sit next to Marissa Rundell and her eight-month-old son Mason at the back of the plane.

Ms Rundell said the woman started to complain as soon as she boarded the February 6 flight from JFK to Syracuse, New York.

The 19-year-old claims the passenger 'slammed' her bags down and branded the seating arrangement 'f***ing ridiculous'.

She later filmed the moment flight attendant Tabitha attempted to mediate the situation and eventually had the woman thrown off the plane.

Ms Rundell, from Rochester, New York, said the woman continued to complain because she did not want to sit next to a 'crying baby'.

"She brought up having to sit next to a crying baby (he wasn't crying or fussing at all)," said Ms Rundell.

In the video the air steward can be heard asking the woman what the problem is and telling her to 'sit down'.

When the passenger continued to complain, the attendant named Tabitha, offered her a place on the next flight.

The attendant managed to keep a calm while the woman demanded she tell her her name and employee number before threatening to have her fired.

"Thank you Tabitha, you may not have a job, tomorrow," she said.

Tabitha then informed the passenger she will be removed from the flight and calls a gate agent.
