Robert Mueller has handed in his completed report on an investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 presidential election.

Former FBI director Mueller began his investigation in 2017, examining whether Trump's campaign conspired with Moscow to influence the election and whether he unlawfully tried to obstruct an investigation.

Mueller, submitted the report to Attorney General William Barr, the top U.S. law enforcement official, who will decide how much is to be made public, the Justice Department said.

It's not known if Mueller found any criminal activity by Trump or his campaign, beyond charges already brought against several aides.
