These movies’ predictions turned out to be true
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
What it predicted: Tablet computing, space tourism, Siri, the International Space Station
While he may be derided for the audacious optimism of the film’s proposed timeframe, Stanley Kubrick’s representation of future technology is uncannily accurate. Alongside the kind of space tourism that will soon be delivered by Virgin Galactic, the film also provides us with a glimpse of video calling, an international space station, and a network of geosynchronous satellites, all proof that it was well before its time.
