Woman slapped with detention for beating up a 13-year-old boy for no reason at all in Yishun

We won’t be surprised if this kid was left severely confused and traumatized when he was beat up for seemingly no reason at all by a lady seven years older than him back in March.

And yes, before you ask, this happened in Yishun. But of course.

The attacker has since been slapped with a week-long short detention order yesterday, as well as a six-month day reporting order and 180 hours of community service, reported The Straits Times. What this means is that Lynn Chan — now 20 — will have to undergo rehabilitation programmes and regularly report to a centre for monitoring and counselling.

In court, the 13-year-old boy she assaulted remained unnamed due to his age. Around 5:50pm on March 22, the poor kid had been waiting for his mother near his school in Yishun when Chan yelled a racial slur at him from a second storey of a nearby block. When the boy turned and noticed Chan, she continued her verbal abuse, and even asked if he was itching for a fight. Court papers did not mention why she did so.

The boy did the right thing by ignoring her. Chan then went downstairs and started laying into him, hitting his face with an empty plastic bottle, slapping him at least five times and even bit his back. The unprovoked attack ended only when the boy’s teacher saw the altercation and stepped in to help him, at which point Chan ran away.

The victim’s mother arrived soon after and called the police. After being taken to a clinic, the teen was found to have received scratch marks on his face as well as bite marks on his right shoulder blade.

In court, it was revealed that Chan tried to make amends with the victim with an apology letter and a paltry sum of $318. To no surprise at all, the boy’s father rejected them.

Chan will begin her sentence on Oct 17, escaping a two-year prison sentence and a $5,000 fine she could have received for causing hurt.
