World's most peaceful countries of 2018

According to the results of annual Global Peace Index (GPI), the average level of global peacefulness has declined for the fourth consecutive year, by 0.27 percent. Ninety-two countries showed deterioration in their year-on-year rankings, while only 71 improved. Factors such as increased terrorist activity, greater numbers of refugees and the growing political crisis engulfing Europe and the U.S. are seen as some of the causes behind the decline in peacefulness. Produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace, the report used 23 quantitative and qualitative parameters to rank nations.
