This is the shocking moment a South Koreanhospital allegedly forced nurses to perform an erotic dance routine on stage in front of high-ranking officials.

Video footage of the show emerged last week after a nurse posted on social media about what had happened at an annual sports event held last month - sparking outrage nationwide.

The film appears to show nurses dressed various different suggestive outfits - including short skirts, hotpants and tube tops - dancing suggestively in tightly choreographed and obviously well-rehearsed different routines.

The nurse who leaked the footage appeared to suggest that this wasn't the first time it had happened.

She wrote: "Those forced to dance are usually the newly hired nurses, who are unable to refuse such orders.

"We were forced to dance in front of high-ranking officials of the firm, who sat side-by-side at a long table."

The story originally broke on South Korean media outlet YTN which said the nurses had practised for the display for "two or three hours" - and that one had been forced to perform despite being pregnant, but "could not say anything because she was afraid".

The Korean Nurses Association has called for a thorough investigation into what is happening to the humiliated staff of Hallym University’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Chuncheon, The Korea Times reports.

It further reports that the association is calling for the "merciless punishment of those responsible".

It said in a statement: "This is a grave challenge to the vocation and self-esteem of nurses.

“There are numerous nurses who endure an intense workload, low paycheck and frequent overtime with their sense of duty and vocation.

"Considering this, the scandal was defamatory and offensive to these nurses.”

Since the footage was posted there has been a subsequent wave of allegations made on social media by other nurses claiming that they have been regularly required to perform similar dances throughout the year to “comfort” patients.

One nurse posted: "We had to lie down on the floor and spread our legs in front of patients and their guardians."

Another said: "During practice, managers at the Nursing Department would give instructions on making seductive gestures and facial expressions."

Meanwhile another nurse claimed that "some even cried to express their extreme humiliation, but officials would always brush this off, saying they are making a big deal out of something everyone does".

One nurse also posted: "It is devastating to hear the hospital officials claimed they did not know about the situation after this finally got out."

The Ministry of Employment and Labor confirmed that an internal review was under way.

An official told the Korea Times: "If we find legal problems, we will summon the hospital officials responsible."
