After a relatively quiet January transfer window, things have sped up for Liverpool in a big way of late.

The Reds are on the verge of completing a big-money deal for Porto forward Luis Diaz, with the move believed to heavily involve assistant sporting director Julian Ward as he prepares to succeed Michael Edwards.

The Colombian international will set Liverpool back an initial £37.5m, potentially rising to £50m, with the South American due to move to Anfield before the window shuts, providing all the remaining details can be ironed out.

It might not be the only piece of business completed by the Merseyside club in the coming days, though, with a number of reported ins and outs continuing to capture attention.

Here, Mirror Football offers some of the latest headlines, including an update on another of the attacking talents linked with Jurgen Klopp's side.

Logistical issues impacting Diaz move

Liverpool's battle to sign Luis Diaz could end up being logistical as well as financial, with the club forced to send a medical team and senior executive to South America in a bid to get the deal over the line.

Colombia's World Cup qualification bid is the main factor at play, with Diaz called up for crucial games against Peru and Argentina while Liverpool's European players are enjoying a mid-season break.

The Reds are hopeful they will be able to complete any remaining medical checks over the weekend, between the two games.

Their officials have travelled to Argentina, where the second of the two matches is due to take place, having already agreed terms with the 25-year-old.

Fulham's hands-off notice over Carvalho

Fabio Carvalho has been on Liverpool's radar for a while, but the Fulham talent will not be moving to Anfield in January.

That's according to Cottagers manager Marco Silva, who issued an update to supporters on Friday.

"Fabio will be with us until the end of the season," Silva said, adding that "I would like to see him here for more years.

"From day one I have been trying to keep him. It is not a surprise that clubs are interested in Fabio. We are talking about a young player with big talent.

"The situation is not easy because he is in the last year of his contract, but that is the reality. It is out of our plans for him to leave the club in this window."

Carvalho, who turned 19 in August, scored his first Premier League goal for Fulham last season and has eight from 18 games this term.

Raphinha has been targeted by West Ham United, months after Liverpool looked at the Leeds wide man.

The Brazil international is currently in action for his country, playing in a game in Ecuador where Liverpool keeper Alisson was the centre of attention.

It has now emerged that David Moyes' Hammers are ready to test Leeds' resolve, with the former Rennes man out of contract in 2024.

Raphinha is yet to agree terms on an extension to his current deal, though Leeds remain hopeful, and Liverpool's move for Diaz is unlikely to be accompanied by another big move this January.
