'We will hardly be able to beat it': Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri dismisses chances of beating club's Serie A record points haul this season despite dropping just six so far

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has admitted it will be difficult to beat the club's Serie A record points haul, despite their impressive record so far this season.

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte set the record during his three-year spell in Turin when his Juve side amassed 102 points in the 2013/14 campaign.

The Italian champions are still unbeaten this season and have gained a staggering 63 points from 23 games after Sunday night's comfortable 3-0 win at Sassuolo.

However, Allegri admitted after the game that Conte's total will be tough to surpass and insists a record points tally is not the most important thing to his team.

He said: 'Conte's record of points in Serie A with Juventus, we will hardly be able to beat it.

'But the important thing now was to get back to plus-11 [points] from Napoli and try to get to plus 14 on Friday, and only then we will think about the Champions [League].

'What matters to me is winning the Scudetto, winning a thousand points is pointless; we have to be good, in this moment, at bringing home points.'

Juve returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory at Sassuolo to extend their lead at the top of Serie A.

Sami Khedira scored midway through the first half, and had should have had at least another goal to his name, before Cristiano Ronaldo got his 20th goal of the season with 20 minutes remaining. Substitute Emre Can rounded off the scoring late on.

It was a first win in three matches for Juventus following defeat at Atalanta in the Coppa Italia and the 3-3 home draw with Parma last weekend.

Juve are back in action on Friday night against minnows Frosinone, who claimed an impressive win over Sampdoria on Sunday, before travelling to Atletico Madrid for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
