Coastguard Helicopter, Lifeboat Crew Work to Rescue Dog Swept to Sea

A Coastguard crew on a training exercise aboard a helicopter on October 15 spotted a small dog being swept out to sea near Cummingston, on the Moray Coast, Scotland, just in time to direct a rescue lifeboat to pluck the cockapoo out of cold water. The helicopter stayed until a lifeboat based at Findhorn arrived and pulled the dog onto the boat, apparently unharmed, the BBC reported.“UK Coastguard received a call at at 10.45am today from a member of the public reporting that the Cockerpoo was being swept out to sea,” the Coastguard said in a blog post. “The UK Coastguard helicopter, which was training in the area at the time, was quickly able to locate the animal and alert the Moray inshore rescue boat based at Findhorn to its location. They pulled the dog onto the boat and returned it to its owners who were waiting on shore with the Burghead Coastguard Rescue Team.” Credit: Maritime & Coastguard Agency via Storyful
