The Best of the Worst: Our favorite weird, awful cars from Detroit’s 2018 Concours d’Lemons

Car and Driver Logo By Car and Driver of Car and Driver | Slide 1 of 13: As its name suggests, the Concours d’Lemons is a celebration of automotive d’tritus more than d’elegance. Instead of the usual exhibits of elegance and carefully curated assemblies of priceless vehicles, the LeMons concours features a haphazard grouping of the dredges of autodom. It’s a real shit heap, and that’s the point. The 2018 Concours d’Lemons Detroit provides a lighthearted counterpoint to the (traditionally elegant) Concours of America that takes place during the same weekend at the same venue. Both gatherings are staged on the grounds of the Inn at Saint John’s, steps away from the Car and Driver–sponsored Cars and Coffee event at the same location. So join us as we celebrate this wonderfully unfit mishmash of cars, many of which have been universally panned since the day they were built. Though most of these undesirables were shown in terrible condition, there were a handful of impeccably preserved or restored entries that might not be out of place at a concours d’elegance were they not so poorly presented or exceptionally weird. What follows is our roundup of favorites, in alphabetical order. Be thankful that, as you click through, you can’t smell them through the internet:
