Although Mercedes-AMG already offers the glamorous S-Class convertible with a 577-hp V-8 engine, some buyers might want more power and cylinders. To solve that quandary, there's the new 2017 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet. With a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12 and seven-speed automatic transmission at its heart, the S65 Cabriolet packs 621 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque, enough to rocket the car to 62 mph in just 4.1 seconds.

The car comes standard with its top speed limited to 155 mph, but opting for the Driver's Package pushes it to 186 mph. Other performance parts for the S65 include a lithium-ion battery that saves more than 44 lb compared to the standard batteries, a sport-tuned Airmatic suspension, 20-inch AMG wheels, and optional carbon-ceramic brakes. Standard equipment includes Nappa leather seats, a Nappa leather lining for the headliner, a 360-degree camera system, self-parking, and a Burmester 3D surround-sound system. To keep drivers warm, there are heated seats and armrests, plus the Airscarf neck-warming feature.

As on the S65 coupe, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet wears beefed-up bodywork with a deeper front fascia featuring enlarged air intakes and a new rear bumper with quad exhaust tips. Inside, look for a three-spoke Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel with shift paddles, and unique "V12 BITURBO" badging.

While a 12-cylinder Mercedes convertible may seem excessive, AMG is clearly enjoying strong demand for such cars. The automaker recently announced that it will move production of V-12 engines from its home in Affalterbach, Germany, to Mannheim, Germany, in response to increasing demand for the company's 8- and 12-cylinder powertrains.

Pricing for the 2017 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet hasn't been announced, but expect a rich sum once the car launches in spring 2016.
