  • Huge grille not for everyone

The new 2022 Genesis GV70 is the smaller and sportier sibling of the recently revealed GV80. So if you appreciate the Genesis brand's strengths but want a less expensive option below the GV80, the GV70 may be a good fit. Aimed at compact luxury SUVs including the Volvo XC60 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, a wide range of models with at least two engine options as well as a choice between RWD and AWD.

What's Under the Hood?

Like the new G80 and GV80, the Genesis GV70 will likely get a 2.5-liter turbo-four as standard. In the engine's current RWD applications, that engine makes 300 hp and 311 lb-ft. More expensive iterations of the GV70 may get a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 good for 375 hp and 391 lb-ft. Both engines should come exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Expect all GV70 models to get a full suite of active safety and collision prevention technologies. Highway Driving Assist, which bundles together adaptive cruise control with lane tracing and traffic jam assist, should also be available.

If the 2022 GV70 matches the updated G70, a 10.3-inch touchscreen will sit at the top of the dash. Other cool options could include a Lexicon surround sound system and a head-up display.
