The Texas-only special edition model continues the tradition that started in 2002.

The pickup truck world is still buzzing with the new Ram 1500 that debuted last month at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. The handsome redesign is backed up with updates throughout the entire truck, not to mention a significant weight loss compared to the outgoing Ram. Of course, with an all-new model comes all-new special edition variants, and the manufacturer has chosen (quite appropriately we might add) the Dallas Auto Show to unveil the newest addition to the lineup: The Ram Lone Star edition.

As with previous Lone Star edition trucks, this automotive ode to Texas will only be sold in that state, hence why Dallas is an appropriate venue for its debut. Aside from requisite Lone Star badging on the tailgate and interior, the package includes standard-issue bright bumpers front and rear, as well as chrome door handles. The grille surround matches the front bumper and also features billet inserts, with 18-inch aluminum wheels and fog lamps wrapping up the exterior look. Inside, the Lone Star edition gets a 60/40 split rear bench seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Naturally, from there the Lone Star edition can be optioned up in any number of ways. Monochromatic appearance packages are also available for the Texas-only truck, and it can be had with the a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 as well as a Hemi with the eTorque mild hybrid system. Ram says a 3.6-liter V6 with the eTorque setup will be available later this year.

“The hard-working appeal of the Ram Lone Star has made it a favorite among Texas truck buyers,” said Mike Manley, head of Ram brand for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. “Trucks are an important part of Texas life, and Ram trucks are proven to last. Ram’s long-lasting reliability has helped the Ram 1500 cement the highest owner loyalty of any half-ton pickup.”

Pricing for the 2019 Ram Lone Star edition hasn't been announced yet, but it will hit Texas dealerships in the first quarter of 2018.
