Build-Your-Own Site for 2016 Volvo XC90 Goes Live

Those who have been waiting to option out their own Volvo XC90 will be happy to know that a new configurator has gone live with pricing details on the T6 model. The 2016 Volvo XC90 starts at $49,825, including $925 destination.

The configurator shows just one of the XC90's two powertrain options, but lists three trim levels available on the new seven-seat crossover. XC90 T6 models come equipped with a twin-charged 2.0-liter I-4 engine making 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The base Momentum model comes with standard features like hill start assist, keyless entry with hands-free power tailgate, lane departure warning, park assist, and 10-way power driver and passenger seat with lumbar and memory.

Stepping up to the R-Design model brings a sportier feel with a lower front spoiler, revised grille, sport pedals, paddle shifters, and Nubuck and Nappa leather contoured seats -- all for an extra $4000. The top-of-the-line Inscription model goes for an extra $5600 and ups the ante with chrome accents, LED headlights, a 12.3 inch digital instrument display, ventilated and heated front seats, and more.

Optional packages available on every trim level include the Climate, Convenience, and Vision packages. The $1050 Climate Package brings heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield, while the $1600 Vision Package tacks on blind spot monitor with cross traffic alert, upgraded 360 surround view camera, and auto dimming mirrors. The $2000 Convenience Package adds park assist pilot, power third row fold-and-rise backrest, Homelink remote garage door opener, compass, and other features. Pricing for the twin-charged plug-in hybrid T8 AWD model is yet to be announced.

Key stand-alone options include an air suspension for $1800, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system worth $2500, and a head-up display for $900.

As we reported earlier, production for the XC90 begins in January 2015. Sales start later that year.
