The Jaguar certified pre-owned program lets you enjoy the benefits of buying a new Jaguar, such as warranty coverage, and the benefits of buying a used car (a lower price). Both are particularly attractive when buying used Jaguars, as they tend to have lower reliability than models from other luxury brands, particularly Lexus, Porsche, and Mercedes, and that reputation often results in lower used Jaguar prices (although you will pay a premium for buying through the Jaguar CPO program).

Which Used Jaguar Vehicles Are Eligible?

Jaguar makes available its full lineup of sports cars, convertibles, and coupes, as well as its F-Pace SUV, under its certified pre-owned vehicle program. This includes the F-Type coupe and convertible, XF mid-sized sedan, XJ premium sedan, and XE compact luxury sport sedan. Inventory includes a selection of rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive vehicles. All Jaguar CPO vehicles must be five years old or newer and have less than 60,000 miles to qualify.

Inspection Process

Jaguar certified pre-owned vehicles undergo a comprehensive 165-point certification that covers all systems and components, from the engine and brakes to the headlights and infotainment interface. Certified Jaguar technicians evaluate the vehicle’s electrical and mechanical condition, as well as its paintwork and interior, before approving it for the manufacturer’s pre-owned program. The inspection also includes the car’s luggage area, undercarriage, and heating and air conditioning systems.

Finally, vehicles receive a road test and a final inspection as part of the overall evaluation.

The Jaguar Approved Certified Limited Warranty covers vehicles for up to seven years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the car’s original in-service date. In short, the CPO warranty extends the vehicle’s original warranty by two years or 40,000 miles.

The warranty covers all mechanical or electrical repairs, as long as the vehicle is being serviced by a trained Jaguar technician using only Jaguar Land Rover Genuine Parts. There is no deductible for repairs.

Jaguar’s certified pre-owned program includes 24-hour roadside assistance, allowing customers to call a toll-free hotline in the event of a flat tire, dead battery, or lockout. Coverage includes towing, as well as reimbursement for travel-related expenses, such as food, lodging, and transportation, if the repairs require longer than a day. These benefits transfer to the vehicle’s subsequent owners for the duration of the warranty.

Jaguar provides a full vehicle history report for each vehicle and also offers competitive financing rates on certain models.

How Does It Compare to Rivals?

Jaguar’s CPO warranty offers a similar level of coverage compared to rivals. Land Rover, Jaguar’s sister brand, also offers a nearly identical warranty. CPO warranties from Audi, BMW, Cadillac, and Porsche last two years or 50,000 miles once the original factory warranty runs out.

Volvo’s warranty covers three years or 50,000 miles. Lexus’ CPO warranty is good for two years after its four-year/50,000-mile new-vehicle basic warranty expires, but mileage is unlimited. Mercedes-Benz provides an unlimited-mileage warranty for one year and offers buyers the choice to extend the original warranty for up to two additional years.

Unlike Jaguar, Audi requires an $85 deductible for repairs covered under its warranty for certified pre-owned vehicles.
