Infiniti has pulled the covers off its Q60 Concept before it heads to Detroit next week. And as we previously reported, this model should be "very, very close" to the production coupe.

The dramatic redesign gives new life to the sports car, which hasn't changed since 2008 when it was still referred to as the G Coupe. From the one image Infiniti has released, we see that the Q60 concept features the brand's new grille, a low roofline, and aerodynamic gills for a much more athletic look than its predecessor. Custom 21-inch wheels with matte black and chrome accents complement the car's wide stance. Look closely and you'll see similar character lines and headlights to the bold Q80 Inspiration Concept that debuted last year in Paris.

“The sweeping lines of the Q80 Inspiration gave the Q60 Concept its coupe silhouette and looks while the Formula One-inspired touches from the Q50 Eau Rouge endowed the coupe with its sports personality,” Infiniti Executive Design Director Alfonso Albaisa said in a release.

We'll have to wait until the Detroit show to take a glimpse at the interior, but Infiniti promises quilted leather seats reminiscent of the ones we saw on the Q80 Inspiration. Also expect carbon fiber accents, hand-stitched leather finishes, and Alcantara treatment. The Q60 concept sits four people and promises enhanced rear legroom thanks to its "genuine sports seats."

Stay tuned for more details when the Q60 concept debuts January 13 at the Detroit auto show.
