A 1968 Camaro being built for the street and the track by Roadster Shop

Don Esbjomson has a lot of experience road racing C5 and C6 Corvettes in SCCA and other events. When he decided to get a first-gen Camaro he knew what direction he wanted the car build to go in: Pro Touring! And for this transformation he knew exactly where to take his "new" 1968 Camaro: Roadster Shop. As Roadster Shop's Phil Gerber told us, "He wanted a classic/timeless-styled car that still had a unique performance-minded look without going over the top. And it needed to be capable of performing on both the street and occasional track days."

After the body was massaged from stem to stern, the Camaro received one of Roadster Shop's Fast Track chassis complete with an independent rear suspension (IRS). Aside from adding a ton of handling potential, this setup is far more rigid compared to how the Camaro shipped from GM. Powering the F-body is a Chevrolet Performance LT4 crate engine backed by a TREMEC Magnum six-speed transmission. Stopping the blown Camaro will be done by a Baer 14-inch, six-piston Extreme+ system, residing behind a quartet of Forgeline RS6 center-knock-off wheels.

Roadster Shop built custom long-tube headers, which will feed into a 3-inch stainless exhaust featuring Borla XR1 mufflers. The interior has a custom-fabricated rollcage along with creature comforts such as Vintage Air and Recaro seats. The LT4's vitals will be tracked via a Dakota Digital gauge system, and the car is being completely rewired via American Autowire.
