Kia is the official automotive partner of the NBA, so it's no surprise the Korean automaker has recruited famous basketball players like Blake Griffin to be the face of the brand. While Griffin was the Optima's official spokesperson, LeBron James has just been named the brand ambassador for the flagship K900.

James landed the role after the athlete reached out to Kia about the luxury sedan, which he says he was a fan of before taking on the new gig. Just this past summer, the basketball star posted that he loved rolling around in his K900 on social media. "This partnership is about the power of great style and performance. Kia and the K900 are out to challenge conventional wisdom and show people how to think differently, and I can relate to that. For me, a partnership has to be authentic and real to who I am, and that’s what makes this one so special," James said in a release.

The multi-year partnership means James will star in a series of commercials as part of the "Fit for a King" campaign, with the first one scheduled to debut later this month when the 2014-2015 basketball season kicks off. The commercials will highlight the new V-8-powered K900 luxury sedan, which we've called the "most ambitious Kia ever." The rear-drive sedan starts at $60,400 and puts out 420 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque thanks to a V-8, though an entry-level V-6 K900 is expected to launch in the near future.
