Our spy photographers captured new, close-up images of the next-gen Buick LaCrosse as it brazenly hit the open highway. The 2016 Buick LaCrosse is expected to reach dealerships by the end of this year.

From what we can see, the sedate midsize sedan gets a little bolder for 2016, complete with an arched body and a bolder side-window profile. It also looks as if the LaCrosse has grown in size in order to make room for a larger Buick Regal, which is set to hit the market in mid-2017.

We first spotted the new LaCrosse late last year, but until now the full taillight design was unknown. The new LaCrosse receives raised taillights as opposed to the long, flat lights used in the current model. An early interior shot may hint at a revised cabin, as we see from the large touchscreen.

For 2016, General Motors is also updating the LaCrosse's Epsilon platform, calling it Super Epsilon or Epsilon III. This platform also underpins the Cadillac XTS and Chevrolet Impala. But it will be the LaCrosse's unique luxury cues, including its upgraded wheels, that will make it stand apart from its Chevrolet and Cadillac counterparts.
