People swapping new engines into vintage cars isn't anything new, but this project is certainly worth a closer look. It's a 1972 De Tomaso Pantera that's had its original Ford-sourced 351 Cleveland V8 swapped out for a new 3.5-liter Ford Ecoboost V6. Italian-bodied Ford GT, anyone?

This car, tuned by SCT Performance of Florida, was actually put together by Gas Monkey Garage about a year ago, but we think it's too cool not to mention. The engine, sourced from a 2013 F-150, is equipped with modified turbochargers and a custom tune, making 440 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque to the wheels. Power is sent to the ground via a ZF transaxle mounted to the engine using a custom bell-housing.

It's not like this is just a show car with a big-power engine, though. Coilovers, six-piston Wilwood brakes, and sticky Nitto tires have been added to tame the extra power. SCT has also added an A-pillar mounted boost gauge and a very fitting Momo steering wheel.

We're not sure Ford would've put in a turbo V6 into a Ford GT in 1972, were it to build one, but this car is still pretty sweet. We bet it's a riot to drive.
