Infiniti has teased us again by releasing another photo of the QX30 crossover, but instead of just giving us a shadowy image to examine, the luxury brand has given us some basic details about the QX30 to go along with the picture.

While there are several similarities between the Q30 and QX30 concept, Infiniti has pointed out the major differences. The QX30 crossover is obviously larger, though it stands just a little over an inch taller than the Q30 hatch. Its higher stance aims to give it "effortless capability," while designers stress the crossover's underlying theme is "stylish protection."

Keeping this in mind, the QX30's aluminum-trimmed front bumper is more pronounced than the Q30's, while its rear end sports a tougher skid plate and a more rounded shape. Its smooth sheetmetal features deep upward cuts and the signature Infiniti "dual wave" styling cue, which not only improves its aerodynamics, but also makes the crossover look aggressive and sporty.

Carbon fiber decorates the lower cladding and roofbar, which supports roof racks that are uniquely designed to extend inward so that they create something cool to look at for rear passengers peeking through the glass roof. Large tires are decorated with 21-inch wheels that feature a 3D effect with different tones.

The QX30 concept is based off Mercedes-Benz's MFA platform, which currently underpins the CLA and GLA, and also the Q30 hatch. Both the QX30 and Q30 are expected start production later this year, and although powertrain details haven't been released, it's possible they could come with a version of Mercedes' 2.0-liter turbo inline-four.
