Nissan released a teaser image of a new compact hatch concept ahead of its official debut at the 2015 Geneva auto show. Though the company did not confirm what car the concept previews, it said in a release that the car "is a glimpse at how a future generation of small Nissan models could look if the company's striking new design language was applied to a European hatchback." According to Autocar, the funky-looking compact most likely previews the next generation of Nissan Micra, the subcompact hatch sold overseas.

Research

Nissan says the Sway concept pulls design influence from the Nissan Juke and overseas-only Nissan Qashqai. While details on the Sway are scant, expect the upcoming Micra to be focused on the European market, competing for sales with cars like the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta. In the U.S. market, the smallest Nissan sold is the Versa.

The Nissan Sway concept adopts a more aggressive front fascia than previous generations of Nissan Micra, and incorporates the corporate "V-motion" grille insert. Aggressive red-accented side strakes and large front grille inserts preview a design departure from past Nissan hatches. New, sharp headlights highlight the unique design and feature prominent eyebrow-like running lights, while large wheels filling up the wheel arches to help give the Sway a sportier stance.
