For the 2014 model year, Infiniti changed up the names in its lineup to be more cohesive, and since then has been updating its models to reflect the change. However, the QX50, previously known as the EX35, has yet to receive a significant update. Now, the automaker has announced that the 2016 QX50 is headed to the New York auto show next week. Could we see an all-new model debut at the show?

In a press release, Infiniti said the updated 2016 QX50 will receive "a wheelbase increase of more than three inches." This leads us to believe that we will be seeing a redesigned model, not just a refresh. The automaker goes on to say that the new model will also feature a new front and rear fascia, restyled wheels, side sills, and a higher ride stance. The 2016 Infiniti QX50 will hit showroom floors later this fall. The current QX50 is available in either rear- or all-wheel drive and comes in two trim levels, including base and Journey.

Infiniti didn't provide any photos of the new model, so we can't be certain that the 2016 QX50 will be all-new. But given that the vehicle hasn't been redesigned since it debuted as the EX35 for the 2008 model year, a next-gen crossover is a strong possibility.
