The Scion tC debuted in 2004 and has remained relatively unchanged until this year. Toyota significantly updated and upgraded the Scion tC for the 2011 model year, and the revised sport coupe will start at $18,995, including a $720 destination and handling fee. The present 2010 manual-equipped tC starts at $18,440 with the current $620 destination fee.

We first saw the new tC at the New York Auto Show last March, and while the refresh was subtle, we liked what we saw. Sheet metal that's slightly more aggressive than the current verison, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and a restyled center stack give the 2011 tC a much-needed cosmetic update on what is otherwise Scion's longest-running, unchanged car. The first tC debuted in 2004.

The mechanicals haven't been neglected either, with a 180-horsepower, 173-pound-foot 2.5-liter I-4 taking the old 2.4-liter four-banger's place, and the existing four-speed automatic and five-speed manual gearboxes having been replaced with two new six-speed units. Overall dimensions remain the same though slightly larger brakes sit under redesigned wheels.

The 2011 Scion tC will hit showrooms October 1. Meanwhile, let us know if you think the 2011 tC has changed enough to keep sales alive. Then, be sure to check back with Motor Trend Online soon for our upcoming First Drive article.
