On this week's episode of Ignition associate road test editor Carlos Lago and resident hot shoe Randy Pobst split time in the 505-hp 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. Lago and Pobst start out at a Polar Vortex-stricken Barber Motorsports Park where Pobst gets a chance to set a lap time in the monstrous new 2014 Camaro Z/28, before heading to always-sunny California for some instrumented testing.

Powered by the C6 Corvette Z06's LS7 7.0-liter V-8 making 505 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque, Lago calls the new Camaro Z/28 a homologation special for a racing series that doesn't exist yet. Like many homologation specials that have come before it, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 sports massive brakes, big R-compound tires, extra cooling gear, and "added lightness" in the form of thinner rear glass, a stripped interior, and less sound deadening.

The changes to the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 over the standard Camaro SS 1LE mean the 3858-pound beast is able to rocket from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds flat, complete the quarter mile in 12.3 seconds at 117.2 mph, and lap the figure eight in a Ferrari 458-tying 23.6 seconds at 0.84 g average.

Check out Lago and Pobst's full review of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 on the latest episode of Ignition above, and don't miss the Pobst-penned First Test right here.
