  • The 2021 Ford Ranger will offer the Tremor package, an off-road-oriented package notable for giving the pickup bigger wheels and a lifted Fox suspension.
  • The Tremor package also adds skid plates, recovery hooks, a six-switch auxiliary power bank, and a locking rear differential.
  • The Tremor package can be had on XLT and Lariat trims (in the SuperCrew 4x4 configuration), and will be available on the 2021 Ranger beginning early next year.

Competition in the mid-size-pickup segment is fierce, and staying on top—or fighting for that position—often means boosting your truck’s off-road attributes. Ford is no stranger to this, and so the 2021 Ford Ranger can now be had with the Tremor package, a package which comes with Tremor-specific tires and a lifted Fox-tuned suspension, among other features that will allow you to go farther when the pavement ends.

The $4290 package is a step up from the $1295 FX4 package, until now the one that gave you the most capable Ranger off-road. It's not quite the Ranger Raptor that we won't stop talking about and hoping for, since it lacks Raptor attributes such as BFGoodrich T/A KO2 all-terrain tires or a Fox racing suspension. But the Tremor does get 32-inch Continental General Grabber A/TX all-terrain tires and Fox 2.0 monotube dampers, both of which increase ground clearance by 0.8 inch to a respectable 9.7 inches and add an inch to the Ranger Tremor's width. Front and rear suspension travel are increased for better maneuverability, as are approach (30.9 degrees) and departure (25.5 degrees) angles.

The Ranger Tremor package can be added to 2021 Ranger XLT and Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 models. Either way, it has the Ranger's standard 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, along with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Ranger's 7500-pound towing capacity is unchanged.

Naturally, front and underbody skid plates adorn the Ranger Tremor, along with recovery hooks at front and back. There's a rear electronically locking differential, as well as Ford's Terrain Management system with four drive modes. And for the customers who are going to add their own features to the truck such as air compressors and winches, there's a six-switch auxiliary power bank on the front dash to control any extras. The truck also gains a more aggressive grille and adds the Tremor badging on the headrests as well as both sides of the cargo box. Inside, there are suede-insert seats with the word "Tremor" embroidered on the seatbacks.

Ford Performance also offers its own accessory packages for the Ranger for those who want even more features, but if the Tremor is all you need, it will be available on the 2021 Ranger beginning early next year.
