A driver died after his car crashed into a Virginia house on Thursday morning, officials said.

Around 2:35 a.m., detectives were called to the 8500 block of Little River Turnpike for a car that crashed into a house.

Police said they believe the vehicle was traveling northbound on Wakefield Chapel Road. The driver continued through the intersection at Little River Turnpike and into a house.

The car went through the hedges and then two pillars before crashing into the home. At least two people were home during the crash. They both made it out safely.

Officials said the driver died and was the only person in the car. The driver has been identified as John Carey, 66, of Annandale.

Detectives believe speed was a factor.
