Yesterday, Subaru sold its 500,000th vehicle in the U.S. so far this year, marking a major milestone for the company. This is a big jump from last year’s total of 424,683 sales, and it matches the goal set in September when the company upped its sales forecast from 460,000 to a lofty 500,000 units.

Numbers have continued to go up in the months since this revision, with a 19 percent increase in September, and 20 percent increases in both October and November. Much of this growth is attributable to recently redesigned core models such as the 2015 Subaru Legacy and the 2015 Subaru Outback, both of which are enjoying healthy sales boosts. Subaru’s biggest seller through November is the Forester crossover, which has increased its year-to-date sales by 31 percent over last year despite that its most recent redesign was back in 2013.

The 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI, also redesigned this year, have enjoyed a significant uptick in sales as well, and the Subaru XV Crosstrek, which joined the lineup in 2013, has become a major player with more than 65,000 sales through November 2014. The only Subaru models not enjoying the boom in 2014 are the BRZ sports car (down 10 percent year-to-date) and the Impreza compact (down 3 percent year-to-date).

2014 marks the seventh consecutive year of sales growth for the Subaru brand in the U.S., starting from 2008 when the company sold 187,699 cars in the U.S. Stay tuned for final Subaru sales numbers for 2014 next week to see how the company finishes out this record year.
