Tesla Is Facing Another Racial Discrimination Lawsuit
15 Black current and former Tesla employees have filed a lawsuit against the company for alleged racial discrimination. The lawsuit, which was filed in Alameda County, California, claims the employees had to deal with racist slurs, graffiti and other acts. Tesla received complaints from employees about sexual harassment and criticism of appearance but allegedly did nothing. Black employees at Tesla’s Freemont factory claim they were given the most physically demanding jobs. While others say they were passed over for promotion because of their race. Earlier this year California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) filed a lawsuit against Tesla. DFEH claims the Fremont factory is a “racially segregated environment where Black workers are subjected to racial slurs”. In a blog post, Tesla denied the claims saying it “strongly opposed all forms of discrimination and harassment”.
