While most of my colleagues were out today looking at expensive cars parked on expensive lawns, I went on over to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to check out qualifying for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

Research

Not only were these multi-million dollar cars being driven in anger, but they were being pushed to the limits during practice and qualifying sessions. Frankly, there's nothing more satisfying than watching priceless classic racecars being driven as their creators intended.

The field was diverse, containing everything from a 1924 Duesenberg, to a John Player Special Formula 1 car, to a Paul Newman-owned Oldsmobile race car. Here are a few of the coolest cars I saw today at the track.
