2014 Cadillac ATS 2.0T Long-Term Update 1

The Cadillac ATS is turning out to be a great touring car. In less than two months’ time since it was delivered, we’ve put more than 4000 miles on it. All that wheel time has revealed that this car is very livable for two adults and two dogs ranging in weight from 25 to 105 pounds, though the cage for the smaller dog was a tight fit. (The bigger dog got to lie on a sheet.)

More time in the cabin gives you more time to pinpoint the idiosyncrasies in a car, such as the sun sensor on the top of the dash in the center right next to the windshield. “It looks like a tiny R2-D2 ‘droid head,” said technical editor Frank Markus, who drove the ATS from Detroit to Memphis, Tennessee, and back. “We spoke to it in squeaks and beeps.”

Fortunately, the ATS has been squeak-free, with only one beep -- a check airbag light coming on and then getting dismissed. It’s also provided solid gas mileage, averaging 27 mpg on the trip. 2014 Cadillac ATS© Provided by MotorTrend 2014 Cadillac ATS
