When the track-focused 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 reaches showrooms this spring it will carry a price of $75,000, which includes the $995 destination charge. Its MSRP puts it well above the Camaro ZL1 ($57,350) and the Corvette Stingray Z51 ($54,795), but neither car can claim the Z/28’s Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes, 37.4 seconds, which beats a number of supercars costing twice or even three times as much.

Sound deadening materials have been yanked out and the air conditioner is gone. However, the Z/28’s lone optional package adds air conditioning and six-speaker audio system for $1150. Customers will have a choice among five paint colors: Red Hot, Black, Silver Ice Metallic, Ashen Gray Metallic, and Summit White.

The Z/28 is powered by a hand-built, naturally aspirated 7.0-liter LS7 V-8 that cranks out 505 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Its extensive list of high-performance hardware includes a Brembo Carbon Ceramic brake set, Pirelli Trofeo R tires, Torsen limited-slip differential, a Performance Traction Management system, aero kit, and Recaro seats. The 2014 Camaro Z/28 will be available to order starting later this month.
